Happy December everyone! Due to the ongoing pandemic in the states, many events and outdoor activities have been cancelled. How to spend the last month of 2020 safely and memorably can be a challenge this year. If you do want to get out of your room and do something fun safely during the Covid-19, here’s a solution for you: Go racing.

Racing is not only adrenaline-triggering but also stress-relieving. It is comparatively safer than other activities since everybody stays in their own car. But you can still get the pleasure from interaction with other drivers. So I have done my research and found out the following tracks that still hold events in California.

#1 Buttonwillow Race Park

Buttonwillow Raceway Park is one of the premiere road racing and testing facilities in The United States. The track’s versatility has made it popular among club racers, track day clubs, motorcycle racers, professional race teams, car manufactures, tire companies, publishers and media outlets, commercial production companies, and go karters. The track is located just ½ mile west of Interstate 5 on Lerdo Highway. It’s location, 28 miles northwest of Bakersfield, CA, makes it easily accessible from Los Angeles and the Southern California area, Paso Robles and the Central California Coast and Northern California and the Bay area.

The track itself offers over 40 different configurations and can be run in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. The East and West loops can be run simultaneously allowing two separate events to take place at the same time. When the East and West loop are combined, the main track is 3.1 miles in length.

#2 Willow Spring International Raceway

Willow Springs International Motorsports Park is located in Willow Springs near Rosamond, California, about 80 miles north of Los Angeles. It is the oldest permanent road course in the United States. Construction began in 1952, with the inaugural race held on November 23, 1953. The main track is a 2.5-mile long road course that is unchanged from its original 1953 configuration. The elevation changes and high average speeds make it a favorite of many road racing drivers.

The road course features 12 turns on a hilly course with 160 feet of total elevation change. It is host to one of only three NASCAR Cup Series races each year that are run on road courses. It has also played host to the IndyCar Series, the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, and several other auto races and motorcycle races such as the American Federation of Motorcyclists series. Sonoma Raceway continues to host amateur, or club racing events with some open to the public. The largest such car club is the Sports Car Club of America.
